Dr. Swomitra Mohanty earned a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. An expert in applied MEMs/BioMEMS and nanotechnology, he has been the lead on devices utilizing titanium dioxide for sensing applications. He has a track record of developing microdevices for point of care applications and creating inexpensive microfluidic devices for processing biological materials.

Dr. Krista Carlson received her PhD in Glass Science from Alfred University. She has industry experience working as a Development Scientist at Corning Inc., where she became the lead on two patents involving the chemical treatment of glass to form anti-glare surface properties.

Dr York Smith was a Research Assistant at the University of Nevada, Reno, for three years before moving to the University of Utah in 2011 where he received his PhD. Now, he works for at Nanosynth Materials and Sensors doing applied research.
Balamurali Ambati, MD, PhD

Dr. Ambati is a Professor of Ophthalmology at the Moran Eye Institute at the University of Utah. Dr. Ambati’s laboratory has made fundamental advances in understanding and treatment of chronic eye disease. His research group has strong basic science programs in the mechanisms of and drug development for ocular angiogenic disorders. Dr. Ambati received his ophthalmology training at Harvard and Duke and has more than 10 years of clinical and research experience. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed publications and two books.
Jason Young, MD, MBA

Prior to joining Nanosynth, Jason completed a Health Economics and Outcomes Research Fellowship at the University of Utah where he designed and implemented research studies in fields ranging from diabetes to cancer. Jason graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine (AOA) and the University of Notre Dame Graduate School of Business (MBA).
